We spend time replacing our bags in order to fit the tent and mattress in to take with us. The bags look full! Mal searches for a reasonable rental car - and funds one eventually.
We leave the camp ground and check out the local attractions. A waterfall come power plant. Train museum. We stop to wash the car then head towards the airport. There is still time, just not enough to do much! We wanted to go up tiger mountain but end up just checking out the trail head. We stop at a park near the airport for lunch. It's by a lovely small lake. At least 8 planes take off while we eat. There is a small funky water park for kids. It recycles water and has shooty things and balls that full up with water and then empty. We drop the rental car off and relax in the airport. We check in when it's reasonable and go through security. They don't allocate seats until the gates I went to get them. The guy recognised my accent and had recently visited a friend in chch. Once boarded we have to wait as there are mechanical difficulties. Eventually we leave and don't get to Alaska till after midnight (11pm) Alaska time. The sun is just setting. We spend and awkward night in the airport.
