After our very relaxing stay on Koh Lanta we were moving on to another party island Phi Phi which is meant to be the most scenic in Thailand. As we got off the boat we realised the island doesn't have any transport and the backpacker accomodation was across the other side at a different bay. We had quite a walk with our bags through the little streets this time avoiding large wheelbarrows trying to run us over rather than scooters. On the sweaty walk we saw a D list celebrity Jeff Brazier, Jade Goodeys husband (pointless information) and carried on the walk until we finally found a room, we now share 2 single beds between 3 of us!! It was only the afternoon so headed for the beach to find it wasn't that nice and had dirty water, we have been spoilt by beaches so far so who knows what we will think of the British sea when we get back!! The main things to see in phi phi are off the main Island so we booked a full day trip for tomorrow sailing around on another long boat. We enjoyed a nice meal and even splashed out with a £1 beer followed by a few more-no buckets this time- and met some friends from koh lanta and ended up at a busy beach bar watching the amazing fire throwers!
This morning we were up early to catch our boat but first up was our breakfast buffet that was included, which was rice, noodles and veg and chilli chicken, not what we expected but ate it regardless! Our first stop on the boat was Monkey Island where no one stays apart from the monkeys that live there and love the tourists coming and feeding them bananas all day! After a photo shoot with the monkeys we sailed by Viking cave on route to some secluded but very busy bays - pi leh bay and Lo tismah. Here we spent time swimming in some very clear and calm water, climbing a rope swing for a good photo and snorkelling with all our fishy friends in another great spot. We then headed to Maya bay, the location for the film The Beach, and despite it being very busy we got some great pictures with just us and the amazing background. The beach is closed in by two huge rock formations towering above the sea, they are like little islands covered in moss that are everywhere in Thailand and in lots of our pictures. We had our lunch here, chicken fried rice, and then on to more snorkelling at shark bay, not seeing any sharks, and then mosquito island, again no Mosquitos before ending our trip on Bamboo island taking in the scenery. By the time we got back to the pier after a bumpy ride from the rough waves we were very tired so got some much needed dinner, looked around the street stalls and headed for bed as we are on the move again tomorrow! Phi-Phi has been nice, the outer islands and scenery were amazing and very beautiful as we had been told and we had a good night out. We want to move on though as its full of Brits abroad on their holidays and turning into Malia, far too touristy for this well travelled duo!!! Lots of love Amy and Meg xxx
