We started our journey off to Kuala Lumpur early on Thursday morning after our quick whistle stop tour of Singapore. After our first bus we walked through the Malaysian border and got on another bus to a place further up Malaysia, then it was time to wait for another bus that would take us up to Kuala Lumpur. 6 hours later and a very funny taxi journey where neither us nor the driver knew the was to Ash's apartment (my friend from Uni) we arrived safely! It was great seeing Ash again after 9 months. We spent the evening with him and his flat mate TJ catching up on how both of our adventures were going. After a trip to a local night market for some Malaysian food and seeing Tom another guy I went to uni with, who is living with Ash as well, we headed to bed ready to explore the city the next day. After a morning spent by the pool relaxing and topping up our tan we headed into the city. Our first stop were the Petronas Twin Towers, a very famous landmark in KL. We grabbed some lunch and sat underneath them eating it. After a quick photo shoot near to the towers we decided to take the underground to Merdeka Square, which has 20 National Icons there including the Government office, a national monument and the national museum. This square was a lot harder to find than we thought and after an hour walking through china town we made it to one of the buildings. We then decided to hop back on the metro to a place called Bukit Bintang, which is Kuala Lumpurs golden triangle. Lots of entertainment and food places around here so we found somewhere to grab something to eat before heading back to Ash's ready for a night out in KL. In the taxi on the way back we drove through Merdeka square so got to see all of the buildings we had been looking for out of a taxi window! Our night out in KL was great, we met all of Ash's friends and got into the club VIP because one of his friends is the chief editor of a big magazine in KL. We loved the celeb lifestyle! On Saturday we had a lay in and then went off to watch The Dragons (the KL basketball team) again VIP tickets with free food and drink, we could definitely get used to this! We cheered them on to victory and then went back to the flat for a relaxed night in watching the TV, packing and a Skype session home. We even managed to stay awake for the first half of the England 6 nations match but we knew an early get up was ahead of us ready for our flight to Bangkok. It has been great seeing Ash and Tom and meeting all of their friends and we enjoyed looking around Kuala Lumpur. Not too sure that we are very prepared for Thailand but I'm sure once we're in Bangkok everything will fall into place. Lots of love Meg and Amy xxxx
