This morning we were heading to Railey an island in Krabi, but before we left we walked to the Phi-Phi lookout. It was quite a strenuous walk, short but lots of steep steps I had to take a break midway through but made in to the top and the view was worth it. We could see where both the bays meet and curve in towards each other it was just a shame it was overcast but still pretty. After breakfast we had a wait until the boat collected us for Railey and after another long boat we made it and it was very pretty. Our bungalow as usual was at the other side and up a very steep hill and when we made it we were so hot we all jumped under the shower in our bikinis to cool off. We were staying on the east side of the island and it had nice restaurants and bars which were busier than we expected. We stumbled across a bar with a live singer who was good and multi talented as he soon became a good DJ and then an amazing fire thrower so we stayed and bought a drink! We actually ended up staying until the bar closed and they had to kick us out. Our dancing skills have improved immensely over the past 5 months so we decided to take the chance to show these off and danced non stop for 4 hours!!
After all that dancing we had a long sleep and spent the day at the beach, chilling. We were feeling pretty tired all day so had an early dinner and then caught up with our diaries and an early night. The following day we headed to Phangan beach which is just a little bit further along the island but was voted in Lonely Planet as one of the nicest beaches in Thailand, so didn't think we could miss out on seeing it! The beach is surrounded by a cave and really was beautiful, rock climbing is popular on this island so we watched some people having ago whilst we played in the waves and sunbathed. Unfortunately it was pretty overcast today so got a bit chilly in the afternoon so we went back to our bungalow and sorted our backpacks out to leave the next day. That evening we decided to treat ourselves to a nice cocktail after our meal and spent the night in the bar from the first night. We definitely weren't feeling as energetic so didn't stay that late.
The next day we headed back onto the mainland of Thailand and took a night bus up to Bangkok ready to spend our final few days in Thailand sorting our Vietnam visa and of course some more shopping!
We were really lucky that a lady on our dive course had let us stay with her in her house in Bangkok for 3 days. We arrived in Bangkok earlier than we expected (maybe because the driver was driving like Lewis Hamilton all night!!) so decided to sleep on the street outside our friends house until an acceptable time to wake her. We waited until sunrise and then her cleaner was waiting for us so showed us to the bedrooms and we collapsed into bed. It was great to spend a few days in a proper house with a full fridge of food (something we're very excited about about home), a swimming pool, air con and lots and lots of DVD's to watch. We sorted our visa at the embassy on the first day and left it with them for 3 days before picking them back up all completed and ready for our next country! We also took a trip to MBK, the shopping centre where we'd already spent a small fortune the first time we'd been there and once again I couldn't resist the mulberry bags! Oops! On the final night our friend took us to an amazing seafood restaurant where we tried lots of delicious dishes including king prawns, crab curry, snapper and lots more, definitely one of the nicest meals of the whole trip!!
Our time in Thailand has ended and we have absolutely loved the country, the beaches are beautiful, the scenery in northern Thailand was gorgeous, our day with the elephants, the yummy food and of course all of the crazy partying!! Very excited for Vietnam now as we're meeting up with our friends Fran and Paul for the last leg of our travels.
Lots of love Meg and Amy xxxxxx
