We set off after our ice explorer hike to a small town called Wanaka. Because we had completed our hike in the morning instead of the previous day we were leaving franz josef a lot later than the driver had hoped so it was quite a speedy drive to Wanaka. We had a few stop offs along the way, one of which was at lake, where on a clear day you can get the reflection of the Mount Cook onto Lake Matheson. Unfortunately for us it was a pretty miserable afternoon so the photos didn't come out that impressive. we then stopped at a place called Ship Creek to look for dolphins, again we were unlucky as didn't spot any. Amy then experienced one of the worst toilets she had ever been in which made me decide against going to the toilet. From then it was a straight drive into Wanaka, driving past the beautiful Lake Wanaka. We arrived into Wanaka, checked into our hostel, made some dinner and then got ready for a night down in the bar. On the way to Queenstown we stopped off at Puzzle world, we were a little bit too excited and initially we got stuck in the maze! Inside were lots of illusions, very weird and a room that copied the effects of Lord of the Rings movie making one person look huge and the other tiny! My brain was already aching but then we went into the worst room where it distorts your senses and turns things backwards. So the whole room was slanted one way but you were falling uphill when you thought that you should be going downhill....very very confusing! The next stop was Mrs jones fruit shop where we could buy ice cream or frozen yoghurt freshly made and then add in your own choice of fresh fruit! I went for the frozen yoghurt whilst Amy had the ice cream with wild berry fruits both were absolutely scrummy and definitely made us feel a lot better after the queasy puzzle world experience! From then it was straight into Quenstown where people were booking onto the terrifying Nevis Bungee jump. Queenstown was also the place where were ready to do lots of partying and celebrating and of course the big reunion with people from our old bus!! Lots of love meg and Amy xxxxxxx
