We arrived in our next destination Melbourne, Australia after the best flight ever, lots of nice food and films (thank you Qantas) and the heat hit us straight away! It only gets hotter up the east coast but Melbourne was a nice temperatre and after we dropped off our bags in the hostel we went of to explore in the evening! We walked by lots of bars on south bank, really similar to the embankment in London but it was sunny and there were lots of people we were jealous of having their lovely meals and cold drinks! We didn't look particularily nice so decided to come back another time so found food and went back to bed as we were slightley jet lagged.
The next day we woke up and made the most of our free breakfast which included cereal, and walked basically around the whole of Melbourne including some of the districts. We visited the musuem, Fitzroy a really cool area where people wear ankle socks and odd clothes, got spiritual in St Patricks Cathedral which was beautiful and christmasy with the nativity and candles. Then more walking through Fitzroy gardens to the sports pricinct where we saw the MCG stadium (cricket) which was good as we are going to a game in a few days. After all the walking we were very tired but still went to see the nightlife so picked a bar with a roof top which was really nice but we had to climb 7 flights of stairs to get to the top not as fun. The weather improved so we visted St Kilda and layed on the beach all day after visting Queen Victoria Market in the morning! Then an incredable thing happened on the way back as we joined a queue for a FREE Burrito, it was delicious and we ate it all up! One evening we went to see the 20/20 cricket, Melbourne Stars V Sydney Sixers it was so good and we didn't realise but the fans were very loud especially when they saw Shane Warne and Brad Hodge. We joined in with or clappers and cheered them on to a win, good to be in a lively atmosphere again!
Up bright and early saturday morning for our day trip to the Great Ocean Road. It was a boiling hot day so we were annoyed about being on a coach all day but luckily we stopped off alot to visit different points. Our driver was really good and gave us a good tour and after driving along the beautiful coast we came to the famous 12 apostels so had lots of pictures taken. As it was nearly xmas we were in our hats and loved the scenery so we were glad it was perfect blue sky for our pictures. We spent the next day on the beach waiting for our night bus to Sydney and treated ourselves to some chinese! Starting to feel very Christmasy now Lots of Love Amy and Megs xxxxxx
