Hello hello !!
How is everyone!? I will try and keep this short and coherent because a) I don't have a lot of time on the net right now and b) I am not 100% on form today lol!
So anyway, I am in NY! The flight from LA was reasonably s***t. I had very valid fears that the guy next to me was about to throw up and he was relatively annoying and kept his long gangly leg on my side of the floor space! Bloody hell! So, no sleep for me!
Gina and her hubby Francisco (who I have aptly renamed Francophile, yep like the last Franco we met haha) were so lovely and drove in to collect me from the airport. We had lunch and then went straight out to do some shopping! Yaya! I also got to meet Gina's mum and what a character she is! She's great!
We did a bit of walking, and Tues day time when Gina was at work I did a lot more wandering around - went to Bryant Park, NYC Public Library, 5th Avenue, Times Square etc etc. This city is amazing! Like seriously, I had big expectations, and after the let down of Rio (also big expectations there) I was concerned that it wouldn't be all that I wanted it to. But I can assure you that it is, and way more! The city itself (well what I have seen) is spectacular. I feel like a tiny little ant walking around amongst all these huge, imposing buildings! I would have looked like such a douche as I was constantly walking around looking up at all the towers with a cheesey grin on my face hahahha! In saying that, I got asked for directions by some chicky, don't know how that happened but I pulled out my map and tried to help out hahaha.
I don't even really know what to say about this city, it's just more amazing than anywhere I have seen. Definately rates on my top 3 list of places I have been to around the world! And the people are just as great - kinda of like London (except nice) in the sense that there is a lot of individuality and people seem to accept whatever, so no more staring, being eyed out, judged etc etc which is a big change from South America! And it's hilarious now that I can actually speak properly to people, without having to make Cherie translate lol and the whole accent thing is quite amusing too!
Gina took me out (with her friend Erica too) to an event last night. Another one of her friends works in PR and put us on the list for a Wedding Planners event. Why would we go to this you ask? No I am not getting married, nor am I a vendor (although that was our story lol) but there was open bar, free food, wedding cake and goodie bags. So why wouldn't you?! It was so bizzare, and completely buzzed me out that this is what Gina gets to do all the time! Later we to another event thingy, which was just a big private party thing. Omg, I just remembered - there was this crazy lunatic of a man, rolled up in carpet lying down in front of the bar! And you had to step on him to order a drink. Wtf is that about. Welcome to NY right!? Also managed to go to two "dive" bars which basically translates to NZ English as a s***t hole. For those of you at the Mex, that is WORSE than the dirty dirty fiddler! But it was great! Met so many strange people, I love it here! Oh yeah, and somehow Gina managed to fit in a strip bar sort of place full of gay men. Cool. Weird. Still loving it though!
Needless to say, today I am not feeling totally on form, but am getting myself ready for another night out - tonight going to a Magazine Launch! Crazy times indeed ya'll! Can't think of what else to say really - missing everyone at home, spesh Cherie :( but having a blast too! xxxx
