Hello!
Just a quickie guys, am at the airport and waiting for my flight to NYC!
Omigoodness LA is amazing! Amazeballs as Cherie would say!
Can't remember when I last wrote, but basically we got the f*** out of Chile as soon as we got word that the busses were running! Left Wed morning and started the long (22hours) journey to Argentina - I now have 3 entry and 3 exit stamps for Argentina in my passport hahahha, one of the big joys of travelling I might add!
The bus was good, uneventful which is what we like these days! Dinner was average, we got to play the game taught to us by annoying American "I am 26 but look like I am 40" Holly Finnigan - "Guess that food!" i.e. we had no idea what the f*** we were eating. The hostel in BA however, was DEEEESGUSTING! Squito central and after 24 hours (24 hours too long) there I have oer 30 itchy bites. Attractive I know.
We had a lazy day, went to our all favourite shop Todamoda and basically just killed time. Funny how time was going so fast in Chile and went so slow in BA lol. Had a few more aftershocks - that we felt, in Chile before we left, and found out that a shop about a 5 minute walk from our apartment was looted, and that a lot of shops in town closed in fear of beeing ransacked; so we definitely felt like we made the right decision to leave!
Anyway, we got our flight to LA and arrived at 11pm Friday night. Oh how I love LA! I had remembered how much I loved it when I was younger, and was worried it wouldn't live up to my memories, but oh how it did! We had just over 40 hours in LA and decided to fit in as much tacky tourist activities as possible! Haha, so we didn't make use of our amazing, big, comfortable as a cloud beds in our flash hotel room but instead deprived ourselves of sleep and powered through!
Went to Knotts Berry Farm on Saturday morning; it was so much fun! Just what we needed in terms of raising our spirits and feeling a bit more positive about the previous weeks events! Although, I don't know how that figures as adrenaline pumping rollercoastings, combined with my fear of heights and the fact that my nerves are f***ed from the earthquake, wouldn't logically make for a good result! It did though, and we had a fab time!
Went to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner, and it was delicious! Everything I wanted it to be and more = shrimp jambalaya = crazy yum! They even had Matua Sav on the wine list, which I ordered, and was highly disappointed by! Sunday we were picked up by fabulous Micah and Maryam (Cherie's flatmate from Kingsland and her friend who both live in LA) and got to go to Hollywood walk of fame and see the Oscars being set up; Maryam had her car so we got to see a whole lot of LA in a short space of time! It was great, and real cool seeing Micah!
Now I'm at the airport and have said my goodbyes to Cherie! Has only been a few hours but am missing her like mad! Think it will be a bit weird for a while, especially since our departure has been brought forward so unexpectedly! Feeling a bit better about the whole earthquake happenings, although I now have the nerves (or lack there of) of the same strength as Cherie i.e. non-existent! And am having minor heart attacks evertime there is a loud noise! Bit scared of flying now as the turbulence is a very similar feeling of the earthquake and things like the rollercoasters at Knotts rumbling pass gave us a fright too lol.
Am very excited about NYC so will email ya'll from there - and so the next part of the trip begins! 21 days in crazy NYC with crazy woman Gina!
