Woahhh.... didn't realise it had been this long since the last blog.... time flies in NY that's for sure!! And goes even faster when you're having this much fun!! :D
As I write this, I am sitting in the JFK airport - said laters to my woman Gina earlier this arvo (sad face!) and also to Mum (again) just before since she's in a different terminal than me, so I am a Nancy-no-mates atm but that's cool, cause perfect time to write my last NYC blog (another sad face!!!)
Since I last wrote, a heap has been done so I apologise if this is a bit all over the show - I don't really know where to start Food is always a good starting place..... we went to THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY!! Those of you who don't know what the f I am on about, you are MISSING out!!!! Put it this way - good food, good drinks and a LOT of it!! Yay!
The bad weather came back after the gloriously beautiful weekend we had.... so that sucked but I figured it was good weather for museum-ing?!?! As it turned out, every tourist in the whole of NYC had the same genius idea as me and went straight to MoMA! The end result was a queue like a million people long in the pouring rain. I don't think so! Instead I set out and did some tacky souvineer shopping; never a bad idea!
*OMG OMG OMG I am at the aiport and this old man has just sat next to me and stinks of BO. Really?! Really?!?!?! Jesus Christ... not a good start!*
Okay, breathing through mouth and now back to Monday - so the rain was crap but the highlight of the day was I did have my first Crooked Tree experience with Gina! Yay! It's this delicious little bar/restaurant place where Gina's friend Austin works and he makes the most delicioso crepes! (Americans seem to say "crep" weird? or maybe we/I say it wrong?)
Managed to get to the WTC museum, the Police museum and the Skyscraper musuem, all of which were pretty cool. Went past the Wall Street Stock Exchange (don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't what I got! Since 11/09 you can't go in and watch them trade but the 'trusty' Lonely Planet said it is very interesting to watch who goes in and out etc etc from the outside - so I did. All I got to see though was one or two people pop out to have a ciggarette then go back inside. Interesting right? lol) and also took a walk through Battery Park which is downtown and has a cool view of the Statue of Liberty :) yay
Had the most tasty burger I have ever had in my entire life btw, only Gina can truely appreciate what I am saying, but I thought I would share with ya'll anyway, and that night went to a Magazine launch (I think?) event with Gina and Geffery. This later became the "Geffery Night" from a bit too much alcohol.... Self explanatory ...... :)
I made it up to Central Park also... Geeze! What a gigante park!!! I had to walk ten blocks (missed the tube stop for where I was going) and was like 'oh, I'll walk through the park, simple"... yeah it wasn't, I got lost a bit, but was a nice walk although I was a bit frightened that I was going to get attacked by a squirrel. I keep calling them chipmunks... can someone please tell me what the difference is?!?! I reckon they would be feral as attackers though if they felt like it so I was on guard! Went to the John Lennon tribute - Strawberry Fields and also saw the Dakota building that Yoko Ono still lives in.
Had another Crooked Tree experience (yay!) and also finally tried a hott dog - and one that is voted best in NYC last year! = Grays Papaya! Yum-o! Mum arrived on Wed night so we did some touristy stuff on Thursday and Friday, hop-on-hop-off bus etc.... Thursday night we went to Lucky Chengs ..... hahahha..... it's kinda like Auckland's alternative to Caluzzi I guess i.e. drag queen show + drag queen waitresses :) the only difference is that at Lucky Chengs these drag queens are hott and actually look like women! Not just like a man in a dress!! It was hilarious and Gina's mum actually got up and was part of the show! Go Roberta! Hahahha.
Friday night we went to Chicago on Broadway which was cool, we were SOOO close to the front though that Gina actually ended up getting spat on by one of the actors a couple of times hahah but was a cool show. Michelle Williams from D-Child was Roxy and put it this way, you can understand why Beyonce made it big and she didn't so much.
*BTW Stinky man has left! yay!*
Lizy arrived from Boston later Friday night so got to meet her, had a couple of beers then went home for tequila! Was crazy and weird to catch up with her, but awesome too! So the rest of the weekend me, her and mum kept doing touristy stuff like Empire State building, and a horse and carriage ride in Central Park lol. Had a party at Gina's on Sat night which was great (and even better cause it was so damn cold in NY (was forecast to snow and the low was like -3 degrees celcius!!) that we got to stay inside with heating hehehe) and included lots of circle of death and taboo hahha yay!
Pretty much hid from the rain the last couple of days, it's be bucketing down today! And I think Paris is going to be the same. Super. Not. Anyway, my battery is dying so I better go! Missing my Gina and missing NY already, but I plan to be back there April 2011! Yay!
Talk to you guys from Paree! xxxx
