Hello!

Since I last wrote we have gotten over our altitude sickness. Truth be told it wasn't too bad; although the headaches were irritating, it gave us a good excuse to have early nights and sleep in hehe.

We went to the local markets on Sunday which was fun, they have lots of beautiful fabrics and the like for sale, which doesn't bode well for my budget come Saturday when we head to the Otavalo Markets - the biggest in the continent!

We went to the Equator yesterday, officially middle (of the) earth (rather than the Lord of the Rings site in the South Island hehe). It was pretty cool I must say! And we got some fun photos, which I havent managed to get online yet. We basically were in the middle of no-where, surrounded by huge mountains and creepy ranch style shops. Very bizarre.

Wandered through some more markets yesterday afternoon and today we have moved hostels - we're now staying in the Old Town which is a nice change of scenary! We have been trying to be very busget concious (aside from the US$4 chocolate I bought late last night) but I think this stingeyness has finally kicked us in the butt today at lunch! We ordered a 3 course + drink set menu, and lets just say, it was edible, but only just! The "soup with chicken" had part of a chickens foot in it. Seriously. But I guess that's what you get when you pay US$1.50???

The next couple of days are just chill days, and then New Years! Yay! I hope you all have a wicked time over New Years if I don't hear from/speak to anyone before then!

p.s. the beep count didn't work out so well. I don't know what happened but we are no longer as popular in terms of beeping as the first day we were here! Still been getting A LOT of stares but only 11 beeps yesterday!
