Fri 7/9
Managed to drag ourselves out of bed after about 4hrs sleep and still be down in plenty of time for our bus which was a good job coz it turned up 15 minutes early! Spent the whole of the journey from Siem Reap to the border trying to catch up on some sleep! On the bright side there was no hangover in sight! I think the lesson here is that sticking to vodka or beer is the way to go because no matter how cheap they are, cocktails = very bad hangover!lol. We sailed through the border crossing, although the long wait at the Thai side was made to feel even worse than it was coz we were really hungry! Only thing that worried us a bit was we had stocked up on fags before leaving, at 35¢ for a pack (thats 20p to you and me) which is the cheapest we have found we couldn't not!lol. We didn't have too much but had no idea what we were aloud to take in, we know that we cant take any into Singapore which is a pain when its so expensive in Australia, that may be our time to give up!lol. Got through no bother anyway! Thankfully when we got through we had a 30 minute wait at a cafe before we headed off! We got some great food, much appreciated coz i don't think the snacks we had would have satisfied us! Another long bus journey to Bangkok, even though we had a speedy driver (which i think is quite common here) we didn't arrive until about 8:30pm. It was nice to see the countryside, very different to what we are used to in Asia, trees and green fields rather than rice paddies, it actually reminded me a bit of Africa! Bangkok was also not like we expect! Not seen so many cars and bright lights since we were in China or Hong Kong! Headed out for dinner and tried to decide on where we want to go in Thailand, we are very aware of the fact we only have a 14 day visa which doesn't feel like very long at all! Don't want any repeats of what happened in Vietnam!lol.
Sat 8/9
So Cam is stepping up his game in breaking sunglasses, its bad enough he brakes his own but this time he has gone for mine, they were only 3 days old, its a good job they wurna real Chanel! He really isn't having a good time of it at the minute coz he also got attacked by mosquitos the other night at the bar so he is feeling rather itchy. Now he knows how i feel most of the time!lol.
First day in the bustling Bangkok, wandered around, didn't feel like visiting any of the biggies the day so just went to the Phra Sumen fort, sat in the park sheltering from the sun for a bit then headed to the Democracy Monument and the Giant Swing. The giant swing was quite a let down, although it may be one of the symbols of Bangkok its nothing spectacular. By the time we got back to the hostel the heat had exhausted us. Had a bit of a rest before heading to Khau San road for some street food and a walk round the stalls. They must be too used to tourists here coz they wouldn't barter so much on prices. Never mind, I'm happy coz they actually had clothes to fit westerners, not just tiny asians!lol.
Sun 9/9
Today we went to the Grand Palace first which was a real spectacle, so shiny and sparkly in the sun. Afterwards we headed round to Wat Po, one of the biggest temples in Bangkok, the architecture was actually very similar to the Grand Palace! It is also the national headquarters for the teaching and preservation of Thai medicine, this includes massage! Now I couldn't walk away without having one! It was amazing! Even tho i was in a lot of pain at times it felt great afterwards! Am sure the folk next to me were laughing at how much my back bones cracked!lol. Here was me thinking to leave Beauty as a hobby but now I really want to come back here to study Thai massage properly! Bit of an expensive hobby tho!lol. Had an amazing dinner at a Thai restaurant! I had Green Curry and Cam had Noodles! Only been two days but loving the food already!
