Sun 2/9
Finally made our way to Siem Reap, pretty much took all day! Glad our hostel provided free pick-up coz it was mad with tuk tuk drivers and really muddy after the rain, flip flops were not the best choice in footwear this morning!lol.
Mon 3/9
First day in Siem Reap which we spent wandering around getting our bearings! Had an amazing lunch at a mexican restaurant, think i would even say the best mexican i have ever had! Had a bit of rain so the time spent sitting in cafes put us in the mood for a few drams. The cocktails went down a treat, the nice bar staff and volume of rain at the end of the night probably lead to spending rather too long in the pubs. After all that we still got drenched on the way home but we were past caring!
Tue 4/9
Well......after the night before today was spent watching films and sleeping off the hangover, once again we say never again, till the next time!lol.
Wed 5/9
Still not a lot of energy today, think this classes as a two day hangover! :/ Luckily there has been more rain so don't feel so bad about not heading out to see Angkor Wat! Wander round the market and pick up a few bargains instead.
Thu 6/9
So up nice and early and fresh as a daisy ready to hire some bikes and finally see the famous Angkor Wat, until we go for breakfast and were faced with yet more rain! Disappointed doesn't even cover it! We sat it out tho and around 10:30 it has eased off a fair bit so decide to bite the bullet and just go, by the time we get sorted with bikes it was bone dry again! It was a nice cycle out there, once we left Siem Reap town it was a straight tree lined road. First complex we hit was the famous Angkor Wat itself, very beautiful spent a couple of hours walking around, had lunch at a cafe before heading to Angkor Thom which in my opinion was more impressive than Angkor Wat although it is much bigger and more spread out i thought the temples were nicer. We had planned to keep going and hit a few more of the smaller ones but Cam had a puncture, a tuk tuk driver tried to tell us the guy who fixes punctures had gone home but we went back anyway and got sent in the right direction. We were back on track within 10 minutes and it only cost us $1 dollar, this guy deserved the tip we gave him coz if we had listened to the tuk tuk driver it would have set us back nearly ten times that! The puncture was probably a saving grace because I was starting to be attacked by mosquitos and we didn't know how much more day light we would have so thought it best to make our way home. After a short rest we headed out to book our bus to Bangkok for the morning and have one final meal at the mexican place, i will miss the food there! Sat and had a drink at the bar in our hostel when we got back, met a group of welsh lasses and english guys who we sat and had drinks with for far too long considering we had a bus to catch the next day. Had a good night tho.
