Woke up to rain this morning which wasn't much fun for packing up the tent but it soon cleared. Our first stop was the Ngorongoro Crater which used to be a mountain like Kilimanjaro until some volcanic activity caused it to collapse and form a crater. The landscape in the crater was very flat which was great for viewing all the animals. The lakes looked pink in the distance from all the flamingos. After lunch we headed to the Serengeti where you have never seem so many zebra and wildebeest, there must have been hundreds of thousands of them! The land was flat and they were as far as the eye could see in all directions it was amazing! We were very lucky as we managed to see Africa's 'Big 5' all in one day. It was our first sightings of the Black Rhino and the Leopard. We camped in the middle of the Serengeti, just like Chobe there were no fences to keep the animals away (had toilets this time tho) there were noises in the middle of the night and definitely something outside our tent, not sure but we think it was a hyena! Took a little while to get a decent fire going after all the rain but after rebuilding many times, straw which should not have been burned, elephant poo and lots of male determination we got one going just as we were all planning to head to bed.
