Alyson, Emily, Julie & Katie's Adventures
Alyson; When we left margaret river we headed for a placecalled pemberton so we could go and see some huge trees! They really were quite big and Julie being the braviest of us all climbed to the top and impressed us all. I also had a slight mishap in Pemberton and crashed our van. i kind of backed into some scary australian womens car and left a rather large dent! Whoops. We didn't spend very long in Albany before we decided to start heading north again to the warmer weather. We went to Fremantle and Cottesloe beach which are just south of Perth, on the way up and we really liked them both. Plus the sun was shining which helped!!! We decided as we only had 2 weeks left with the vans we should probably start heading north as we had quite a way to go up. We drove for days and days just on one long road that goes north from Perth. There was nothing along the way anywhere (except hundreds of dead kangeroos). It was just unbelievable how far we would tavel without seeing another car or any signs of life. We found places to stay in the evenings along this big empty road and each time we turned off following the signs towards the camp sites we were never actually convinced there would be anything at the end of the dirt tracks. There were! We even found a camp site with a telly in the communal kitchen and watched neighbours!!! How exciting for us. The camp sites along the way were pretty deserted and looked like they hadn't had anyone stay there for a while!
We finally made to to Coral Bay which was where we were aiming to get to. We have been here nearly a week now. Its a tiny place with only 2 campsites and a supermarket etc but the beaches are surperb. The sky is cloudless and blue, the sand is gorgous white and the water is so clear. Since being here we have been out on quad bikes which was excellent. We went out along deserted beaches to secluded reefs where we snorkelled and saw turtles as well as lots of fish. We all did pretty well on our quad bikes - no accidents or injuries and we feel all we are now pro's at it! We have spent a lot of time on the beach improving our tans and at the one bar that is here, in the evenings trying to improve our drinking skills, which are lagging. We are heading back to Perth tomorrow (sunday) so we should have phone signal again in the next few days as we get closer.
