Alyson, Emily, Julie & Katie's Adventures
Sorry for being so slack with our updates, but we've been too busy doing stuff! We've been in Oz for a week now and have settled in well. To begin with we stayed in Perth for a few days which was wicked. It's a really lovely city, lots of grass, very clean and civilized! We spent a couple of days shopping, replacing our crappy Asia clothes with nice new ones! Also, Alyson, Ju, and Em all got mobile phones - yeay!
We went on a day trip to Rottnest Island which is just off the coast of Perth, and hired bikes for the day. This was not the best idea we've ever had! We decided to cycle around the island which didn't appear to be hilly, but in the end it nearly killed us! Alyson swore her face was going to explode, and Katie thought she was going to die from heat exhaustion. while Em nearly turned purple! Ju, meanwhile took herself off on an extra ride to a headland to try and spot some dolphins, sadly there were none! The island is famous for being home to some strange little creatures called Quokkas. They are like little wallabies/rats.
Having spent a few days in Perth, we decided to venture out on our own. We have hired two campervans that any Grandparent would be proud of! We're sure they're very reliable though! They are big and white, with 'Camp About Oz' written in big yellow letters on the roof - very nice!
So far we have made our way down the coast to Margret River, which is very pretty and a popular surf spot. The weather is not great, but our campers are very snug. We have also seen 5 kangaroos so far, and two dead ones! We're heading south tomorrow towards Albany for a few days, and will keep you posted, xxx
