We left Amsterdam the other day and headed towards Paris. The place we stayed at in Amsterdam was about a half hour outside the city in this cute little campground. I was kind of glad that we were away from the city because it was so crowded and it was nice to just kind of relax. The atmosphere made me feel like we had traveled back in time to the 70's. Which I guess kind of fits the place. Me and Lis stayed in a two person caravan. There were hammocks right outside our door and 2 giant paper mâché hippos haha you have got to see the pictures. There were also these cute little ducks that wandered around and we named one of them Susan. She always hung out right in front of our place. We had great weather while we were there and spent a lot of the time lying out and enjoying the weather.
It took us about 10 hours and 4 trains to get to Paris. We arrived around 9:30pm at the train station. I'm thinking it wasn't a very good part of town because when we asked a security guard what bus we should take he told us to just get a cab to be safe. Lovely. Anyway we made it to our hotel and it was so nice to take a shower and use a real towel for a change. Paris is really pretty. All the architecture here looks amazing. I'm excited to go explore.
Last night we went out and met up with my friend Jocelyn who I had met while at ISU. He took us out to a couple of bars, the first of which was very swanky ha The next bar we went to was right by the Moulin Rouge and it was cool to see it all lit up. We had a good time and it was nice to have someone show us around and not have to worry about finding our own way around and home at night.
France has been a little difficult seeing as we don't know the language. Things as easy as ordering food are interesting here but it seems that most people know a tiny bit of English.
Tomorrow were heading out to see the sites it should be a fun, full day :)
Over and out!
