This morning, we had breakfast in the hotel again then spent the morning in the room so Phil could get caught up on his grading.
The first speaker that we wanted to hear today was David McKay, a photographer who leads trips all over the world while teaching his attendees to photograph the places they see. He had a few tips, but the presentation was geared to the beginning photographer so I didn't hear much of anything new to me. I think his trips would be fun though as he works with individuals at whatever level they are at.
We had a break after the first talk and spent a little more time looking at the exhibits and picking up travel brochures. The companies exhibiting there were mostly smaller ones offering tours and trips. None of the really big cruise or travel firms were there. A few travel agents had booths and were selling trips on the spot.
The last speaker we heard was Johnny Jet. Although I had not known about him before the show, I found that I really liked his presentation "How to Travel Like A Movie Star (Without Movie Star Money)". Before his talk began, we had a few minutes to chat with him. We were sitting in the second row in the side section, and he came and sat in front of us waiting for his time to go on stage. He was friendly and responded when I told him that we were looking at his web site on my phone right then getting ready for the show. He had some good travel tips on how to get good prices on upgraded seats and accommodations. I think what I liked the best though was the first part of his presentation when he talked about traveling with his aging mother and traveling with his new wife and baby.
For dinner tonight, we went to the Meddlesome Moth in the Design District about a ten minute drive from the hotel. It was wonderfully delicious and our waiter was excellent. They served mostly sharing sized plates and the menu pairs every dish with one of their beers. We had roasted asparagus, Texas quail, and a dish called Pig and Fig. Just yummy! The desserts were a little less unusual, but still delicious.
