My first time in the USA and just a flying visit, stopping in San Franciso for 2 nights followed by a further 2 nights in Los Angeles. All the years I was in Australia, I was never interested in going to America because I thought it would be too similar to Australia and so I wanted to see other countries first. However, in just a short time of being here, I absolutely loved what I saw of America and decided I would have to come back again soon ! San Francisco was beautiful and I did a city tour to see the famous sights and learn about the celebrities that live here such as Robin Williams. The Wharf area was great and I enjoyed tasting the local seafood specialities. I also feasted on Garribaldi chocolates and delicious icecream. China Town was brilliant and I ate there both nights. There were loads of huge department stores and I had to check out the toy department in Macy's, since it was Christmas time and everything was decorated so elaborately. Moving on to Los Angeles, I booked myself onto two tours that I didn't actually expect to enjoy too much, but which turned out to be really good and I'm glad I did them : the Movie Stars Homes & Hollywood Walk of Fame, also Universal Studios. I stayed down at Long Beach in a nice hotel and walked along the pier, checking out the Queen Mary, before finding a pub called 'Rock Bottom' which had the best steaks and beer ever !
