Pretty much a repeat of yesterday. No wind, about 25C, some swell, haze. I caught up on another painting this morning which was a landscape from New Zealand. It was pretty awful. Didn't like the suggested colours at all so maybe I misunderstood. It looks like a Rorsach nightmare….
Bob went to a cookery demonstration from three of the executive chefs from the speciality restaurants. He said it was interesting. We also did a mega load of laundry which had been hanging about. We tried before Sydney but everyone who was getting off there were getting it all done. Then, in Sydney, the laundrettes were closed due to harbour regulations. We tried yesterday but again it was a madhouse. Bob went up at 8am this morning and all three laundrettes were in full swing. YIKES! So, we went back at 845 when those loads would be finished and managed to get two loads on. Thank goodness! That's done for another couple of weeks. Some people are actually IRONING loads of stuff. I draw the line… Actually, I have very little that needs ironing (other than my neck..and various other bodily parts….sigh…).
This afternoon we went to art class which was a scene from the Olga Mountains in the Red Centre of Australia. Kangaroos grazing under a tree with parrots in the tree and flying. Very, very pleased with this one although to be honest it could also - in my case - be Jurassic Park because my kangaroos could also be velociraptors. LOL.
The clocks went forward another hour putting us on New Zealand time and again they did it at 12 noon. Really dislike this and hope they go back to the middle of the night soon.
Formal night tonight with one of the Marco Pierre White menus, the one with lobster thermidore as an option. I didn't have it, I had his lamb cutlets instead which were fabulous. Also, on the Marco nights they bring out the stilton which has been steeped in port. It's a divine slobby lump. The poor Goan waiters look vaguely horrified by the smell and appearance. "No, no madam, we do not like cheese" said with a head wobble…..
Interesting passenger mix since Sydney. Comng out I would say that neary everyone fitted in the age range 50-70, with a few people older than that. In Sydney we have picked up quite a few younger people ie in their late 20s/early 30s, some young children. We also seem to have picked up more much older people, so either end of the demographic has increased in other words. Got chatting tonight to a young couple on the next table who were possibly early 30s, from Switzerland with a two year old. They'd been touring Australia in a camper van for 9 months and were now cruising back to the UK and then flying home. What a trip with a toddler! And talk about a contrast. But a fab year off for them.
Good comedian on as the show tonight. Very funny. And off to bed…. Earlyish start tomorrow as we enter Milford Sound, South Island, New Zealand for scenic cruising and hopefully some wildlife spotting.
