A quiet and rather restful day. It was very hazy so not a particularly brilliant day for sunbathing although plenty of people did. The sea was pretty flat calm in terms of wind although there was a slight swell. Lots of new faces aboard and many people wandering around looking lost and baffled as they tried to find their way.
We plonked down in the Crows Nest lounge this morning and Bob read while I painted a picture that we had missed while we were in New Zealand. James Grey (our art tutor) had given me the drawing guide so I did my best from that. Actually, was terribly pleased with the result. Perhaps I have turned a bit of a corner. Definitely a massive improvement from the early attempts anyway.
A funny time thing today. We had to put the clocks forward an hour today (and again tomorrow) and rather than do the time adjustment at 2am when we are all in bed as has always been the case thus far, today we did it at midday. So, at midday, we moved the clock forward to 1pm. The result was, having had a latish breakfast, we didn't feel at all hungry for lunch and gave it a miss.
Then this afternoon we went to our art class and did a painting of seals on a beach in Australia with cliffs and rocks. Again, very pleased with the result.
I went to a pamper party and the spa but it was a bit naff. We did a face cleanse, eye cream, moisturiser but it was all a thinly veiled attempt to sell us a load of products.
Tonight the Queen show (third time and still sooooo enjoyable) and then dinner. Good table with one couple we have met before and two couples who have just got on. Interesting and enjoyable chat. Heard that someone else has been escorted off. We had met this youngish Scottish woman who was on board with her son who was autistic, he was about 22. There was something odd about her I couldn't put my finger on other than to note that she seemed a very unlikely cruiser. Something funny. She said she was joining family in New Zealand and hoped to stay but it was all a bit vague and odd. Anyway, apparently she had no visa and for whatever reason was denied entry to NZ due to past misdemeanours and taken off by the police!!!!!
Had a walk around the promenade deck admiring the big full moon and its path across the sea. A lovely sight. We were going to the late show, a tenor, but in all honesty we were too tired so we turned in.
Another sea day tomorrow on our way back to the South Island of New Zealand. We have a new guest speaker: a woman psychologist who today talked about music and its effects on the brain. Tomorrow she is presenting on serial killers she has known and playing tapes of them talking about their crimes. YIKES!
