Arrived at second stint of volunteering, time is flying by!
Staying with a Fijian family of Indian descent about 5-10 mins walk from the office along a residential road. I'm working at a kindergarten across the other side of town in a village called Nawaka, so in the morning it's a 10 mins walk to bus stop, then 2 bus rides (70cents each) to get to the school by 8am - yep all those early starts at Lloyds are coming back and it's back to getting up early.
It's generally a class of approx 30 4&5 yr olds with a teacher, assistant teacher and often a parent to help. Class is until 11am when I then go to the primary school next door and help with yr 1 reading (in English, not Fijian).
Although we've entered the rainy season, we tend to just get a heavy shower at around 4pm for about half an hour. Otherwise it's sunny and hot
Catching the bus is easy, everyone speaks reasonable English here, I've found my way to Denarau Port, from where all the day trip boats leave - now to work out which one to go on first.
