Arriving back to the farm I had a room mate for the first time - but on ly for a night as she ended up moving in with a friend!
Whilst in Kanaan a new baboon arrived - Bob Bon named in honour of the junior baboon Bonnie was was killed while I was away as well :( She had the tip of one of her fingers removed after it was damaged when her mother was killed.
These two weeks also included a lot of dartings to move cheetahs down to Neuras and move other animals around. I perfected the art of taking cheetahs temperatures (in their bottom) sometimes also monitoring their breathing as well to make sure they were still healthy. All this was also filmed by a South African film crew for a series called Wild Jobs to be shown in Namibia and South Africa in October.
While trying to move Lady and Liska we had to enter their enclosure and sweep it to find out where Liska had run off to. I ended almost walking into a half asleep Liska as he walked past me with Rudi and the cameraman in his wake!
Work was proceeding on the baboon camps but this didn't get finished by the time I left! My team for most of this period was nicknamed Team Awesome - India, Jasmine, Amy and Lina - we rocked!
7 porcupines were rescued from a concrete name they had been in for 3 years with nothing to do but breed. When we emptied them into the colisium we found one had miscarried and then another gave birth and promptly abandoned her baby, now called Taz and he had to be hand raised.
Caro arrived at the start of this period and then Claire arrived just before I went to Neuras.
The last day before heading to Neuras we rescued 2 tiny warthogs who rushed out to join the advanced horse ride.
