The journey over the border happened without incident and we made it to our campside just outside Eldoret. Hunter was very upset about the lack of WiFi!
We left to travel onwards to Nakuru spending a good time in town on the internet (as we wouldn't be able to go on again until Nairobi), shopping for provisions, buying anti-bilharzia medicine and gifts for th orphanage we would visit on our way to Naivasha in a couple of days.
Arriving at the campsite we were met by three exciting things - Lauren's iphone she had left in Zanzibar and a new traveller Felicity who would be travelling with us until Nairobi and going on to do Ngorongoro and Serengeti. She fitted in quickly and asked me about the score with Steph - filled her in as she seemed nice! With Felicity also came John the cook her tour included which meant we had done our last cooking!
Upgraded again but in own room this time - very comfy tent type room too.
Headed out the next day on our first game drive for ages. We went in 4x4s - Felecity getting to know Steph which she decided was not a good thing!
Lake Nakuru is a different park - right next to the town, houses overlooking the park. Also the lake there had rised several metres possibly after seismic activity or heavy rains causing most of the flamingos to leave and also the recently constructed main entrance to be abandoned as it was now on the lake shore! There was also lots of dead trees in the water - photogrpahically attractive but really just sad gravestones to a former glory.
However there were plenty of animals to see even if most were the usual run of the mill. The exceptions to this where the large numbers of black and white rhinos which were great to see. We had lunch in the park surrounded by very cheeky vervet monkeys who tried to steal our food.
We also stopped at a lodge for an afternoon break but unfortunately the sun had gone in and my phone was dead so I couldn't even use the unexpected internet access.
All round another good game viewing and back to our campsite ready for the next trip to Lake Naivashi.
