Arrived in Nha Trnag around midday and were pleasantly greeted with a much warmer climate. Although it is very hot there as it is right on the coast there is also an incredible breeze all the time.
Had a really nice time in Nha Trang doing my usual list of things when I arrive in a new place. So we walked and walked and walked the first day. Second day rented bicycles and went to some thermal baths, regardless of the fact that the man we'd hired bikes off had said it would be much too far to cycle (it took half an hour and was flat). Had a mud bath and went in a load of thermal pools......it was weirdly enjoyable, made better by the fact that we did so with alot of vietnamese people who also stare quite alot!
My first slightly dodgy experience in asia was in nha trang.......when we'd hired bikes we decided to cycle really off the beaten path and go exploring to see what we could find. We were having a really lovely day when a scooter with 2 guys on it slowed down right next to me, sort of forcing me into the curb, then they tried snatching my bag out of my basket. Luckily, I'm smarter than these 2 guys and had heard of this happening so had padlocked my bag to my basket. The whole thing was so fast and neither Rebecca or I can really say what happened but it shook us up a fair bit as we were literally in the middle of nowhere, with no-one else around. They didn't get anything, but they did rip my bag apart :-(
Cycled back fine, but kept swerving off the edge of the road any time any bike passed us by.
Left Nha Trang that night on another sleeper bus to Hoi An.

Eddie Hi Alice, pity you forgot your knuckleduster otherwise you could have given those villians a real fright, anyway good to know you had the foresight to padlock your bag, considering what could have happened you got off very lightly. Not a nice experience but considering all the travelling you have done this must have been the first experience you could have done without. Take even more care,Eddie. There isnt anything left say other than I'm so pleased you came off as welll as you did.I'm really proud of the way you are coping with all your experieces I know I would find the sleeping conditions difficult .Look after yourself dear lots of love Nanny xxxxx
Arntee Elaine Hi Alice, Sounds like a valuable lesson learn't here. Good on you for having taken some security measures. However, always expect the un-expected and don't go off out into the middle of no-where with no-one else around on a bike !! Hope Hoi An turns out to be friendlier........enjoy. Lots of Love Arntee Elaine xxxx
