So we are now in our new hostel which is really nice and relaxing, much more homely than the last with nice places to sit and chill out and we´ve met many more people now. On Tuesday we went to an interesting part of the city called La Boca where all the buildings are painted really bright colours (see here for examples http://images.google.com.ar/images?hl=es&source=hp&q=la%20boca%20buenos%20aires&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi ) but it was really touristy and all the shops were just souvenir shops. We had lunch on the street by a tango little tango show which was good fun but loud so not very relaxing! And we thought it would be included in the restaurant but they came round with a hat so it ended up being more expanive than we had planned! We soon wanted to escape from all the tourists so we hopped back on the bus and went to the ecological reserve which was shut due to unusually high winds which apparently caused a lot of damage in the city. So we´re hoping to hire bikes and cycle around it tomorrow. In the evening we saw a Tango show at ´Cafe Tortoni´ which is apprently the oldest cafe in BA and people were even queueing outside to have a coffee! We think we were probsbly seriously overcharged as tourists but it still wsn´t too expensive and worth it for the experience! There was less dancing than I expected and more music and singing. Yesterday we just travelled to our new hostel and explored the local area and shops which is a nice place, quieter and cleaner than the other part of the city. We met a nice Swiss-French couple who we went out for dinner with last night as they recommended somewhere good and it was nice but quite expensive so we´ve bought pasta and we´re eating in tonight! All areas of the city are completely different it´s quite strange, you feel like you´ve gone to a completely different place rather than elsewhere in the same city. Which is good although we´re getting a bit tired of polluted city air and looking forward to moving on to Uruguay in a few days. Also crossing a road here is a mad dash for survival as we discovered the green man doesn´t stop all traffic only traffic coming from one direction so oncoming cars can still turn right and don´t slow for pedestrians! Inidicating doesn´t seem to be favoured here either so it´s a guessing game. We got stranded in the middle of the road at one point today but survived even though most road have at least 6 lanes! It definately is survival of the fittest- and motorists!
