Lauterbrunnen was one of the coolest places I've been to on the trip. It's a tiny little town in Switzerland with one main street and a strip of shops. Everywhere you look you see white snowy mountains that kind of boarder the town. It's really green and everyone owns cows with huge bells hanging from their necks so the don't lose them. Bek and I actually gave couch surfing a go because we heard Switzerland was a bit pricey. This really nice guy Stefano let us stay in a communal base jumpers house. He wasn't even there it was so good. We had our own room, kitchen and sitting area all for free. He works as the chef in the local cafe called airtime, that's really popular in the town. On our last night he even invited us to his home for dinner and made pizzas. They were so delicious, even though we were a bit over pizza they were amazing. He also had spare brownie from the cafe that Bek and I always bought, so he gave us some pieces too! It was so generous of him. The best thing we did in Lauterbrunnen was by far paragliding. We got driven up a mountain 800 metres in the nearby town called Interlarken. We were so high up it was really foggy. You had to walk to the nearby hill for takeoff and you could barley see the person in front of you. So we were all standing on the side of this hill, in Switzerland, 800m high attatched to a parachute with a guide behind us. It was pretty surreal. I had to go first so my guide counted down and we were off. I had to run down the hill until I realised my legs were dangling in the air and the parachute had lifted us off the ground. It felt so weird! I couldn't believe I was flying through the air basically sitting down. The view was incredible. Through the clouds I could see the little town and buildings beneath my feet. The mountains still looked huge, and we flew near really tall trees from the hill we drove up. I looked back and saw the rest of the group also gliding through the air. When we got close to landing my guide asked if i liked rollercoasters. I didn't have much time to reply because we started swinging in figure 8 motions really quickly. It felt like a godam roller coaster. We were whipping through the air I thought he had lost control or something. Of course he hadn't and we finally landed. I couldn't not buy the photos because it was the best thing I've done on this whole trip. The ohter two days we had in Lauterbrunnen Bek and I walked around the town and just hung out at the air time cafe and drank coffee. It was so relaxing being in such a quiet town though. It was so secluded and different to all the major cities we've stayed in. Oh yeah also, the guy who let us stay in the house Stefano is a base jumper. He showed us all these videos of him just jumping from mountains and cliffs all over the world. It's such a cool hobby to have.
Anyway will blog soooonnn, cXOXO Alice
