So we arrived in Pamplona yesterday, and must I say it´s so quiet. San Fermin, the running of the bulLs festival is over, and also it is a weekend which is sacred for the people here, so barely any shops or stores are open. Our hostel is small and quiet. It has a homey feel about it as Mol,Bek and I sat on a couch for the first time in 3 weeks last night and watched a movie on the communial TV. Atleast they have a guitar all the guests can use, which is awesome! This morning I woke up at 8 and went for a run to explore the town. I ran through the dead still streets and down little laneways, that had cobble stones and tiny little windows and balcones where people hang their washing. I made my way to the Pamplonian cathedral that had a massive baby head statue out the front. I then ran to this massive viewing point right next to the big yellow cathedral. You could overlook the wide stretches of mountains , and the tiny red strips made by the roofs of houses. Apparently this place was where people used to get excecuted. Two older ladies next to me started singing in Spanish whilst we were looking at the view. It was kind of eary as everything was closed and there was hardly anyone around. It was so still and silent! I then ran back home and am now about to tuck into the complimentary buffet brekky they have here. Today we are going to visit the Plaza De Torro, the famous bull ring used in the San Fermin festival. I think we´re then going to visit the bull museum that has a 3d simulator you can run in, like you´re being chased by the bulls. That´s about all we are doing in Pamplona as we head to San Sebastian tomorrow. I´ll blog in a few days , as everyday is a bit tricky. Stay posted xoxo Alice
