Santorini was by far the most beautiful greek island we visited on contiki. When the coach took us up to our hotel, the view was amazing. You could see the outline of other parts of Santorini, and little clusters of white houses on top of hills. We did a day trip around the island one day. It was cool walking around the windy stone streets full of steps. We even got to see some blue domed churches and chapels. There are so many jewerly stores it's crazy. We all bought each other an evil eye bracelet because apparently it wards off bad spirits in Greece. We also got to visit a red and black sand beach. It was weird having black sand between your toes. I also got to hike up a dormant volcano with the contiki group! A big boat took us there and it was so hot walking on the black volcanic rock. We kept fricken slipping on the rocks as we hiked up. The views were absolutely stunning as we were so high up though. The sail boat then took us to sulphur hot springs near by. We wore our knickers in because we heard they'd get stained. The pools were nice and warm and we swam in mud too. Anyway, it's weird you can't flush loo paper in Greece, you have to put it in a bin! We also got to ride on smelly donkeys up heaps of stone steps. They were so exhausted it was kinda sad. Mine kept trying to race with the others ones and I thought my legs were going to get scraped to the s***, against the walls. I think my favourite thing in Santorini was going to Oia. This was the stereotypical part of Greece with all the blue domed houses, and white walled buildings. As we strolled through the streets, we went to the edge of Oia to watch the sun set behind the water. Our Contiki manager Courtney managed to get us free wine and canapés we chowed down on in front of the sun set. It was so pretty, I would definitely go back one day! That about sums up our 3 nights in the picturesque Santorini.
