hello, in Cairns for a second and very tiring day. Last night I met 4 girls Amanda, Lucy, Sonja and Jodie all travelling alone and we went out to grab our free hostel meal-what a bargain. It turned out to be a big night after I entered a competition and won 6 pitchers of beer (which the girls helped me drink) and the place was heaving with backpackers.
As I was walking from the bar I spotted someone out of the corner of my eye and had to do a double take when I realised it was JULES FROM UNI!!!! Neither of us could quite believe it. We went out all the time in Southampton but it was so random to see her in Cairns, bizarre-but really nice to see a familiar face.
Got to bed about 2 and the alarm went off just after 6 for my trip to Cape Tribulation. The tour was called "Go Wild" and started in the wildlife sanctuary where we saw so many Kangaroos, Crocodiles and everything Australian. Even got to hold a Koala, yey.
The tour guide was awesome and made the day fantastic. She took us into the rainforest for a short trek explaining and pointing out wildlife and plants etc which was good.
We got a free picnic then were taken down the Daintree River on a Crocodile Safari. We spotted crocs of all sizes from 6 inches to 4.5 metres.
The end of the trip was spent at Cape Trib and at the beach. I slept all the way back on the bus which was about 3 hours and was completely knackered.
The Italian boys were so nice though and knew I didnt want to go out so 3 of them cooked me dinner (constantly complaining about the poor ingredients). They did a fantastic carbonara and coz they've spent the last few months making wine over here they had plenty of that as well.
All in all a great day xxxx
