The night markets in Chiang Mai were lovely and we came across some lively streets with bars and clubs all along on our way as well as some huge luxurious hotels! We got picked up ready to start our journey to Laos yesterday morning at 10am, arriving at border control to get our visas at around 4pm. On our way we stopped at the White Palace at Chiang Rai which was absolutely stunning if not a bit disturbing eg hundreds of hands coming up from the ground as if they were drowning and skulls everywhere! Once past border control we then had a 12 hour bus ride along treacherous dirt tracks and mountain rounds, passing remote villages and huts as we went. The ride wasn't the best but we made it in one piece! On arrival we got a tuk-tuk to the town centre and chose a nearby guesthouse. We have walked round Luang Prabang today, the Mekong River looks stunning and the leafy backstreets and chilled out vibe make this an amazing place to be. The temples and markets are also intriguing and brilliant places to explore- we're off to sample some street food tonight. Looking forward to another two days here, we have two trips booked we're so excited for!
