We started our journey from Manchester Airport UK, flying to Doha where we switched planes to take us through to Bangkok. We flew with Qatar Airways and I was really impressed with the service and comfort on both flights! On arrival at Bangkok we made our way to the main train station HuaLamphong at around 3pm expecting to get a night train ticket for that night- don't try it! We couldn't buy one and so had to go for a 10 hour night bus to reach our first destination Chiang Mai in northern Thailand- the journey went quite quickly as everyone was just sleeping and the seats were comfy so another good journey! We reached Chiang Mai around 5am and had to find somewhere to stay, luckily a lady with a tuk tuk was there to take us straight to her guesthouse. After a couple of hours sleep we started our first day of temple spotting. After some cheap and gorgeous Thai food we went to three temples in the Old Town the biggest being Wat Phra Sing, then journeyed up a mountain in an open taxi to get to To Doi Suthep temples where we could see the whole of Chiang Mai, beautiful! Today we have another full day in Chiang Mai having not been able to book a night bus for tonight. We have been to the Tiger Kingdom where you can get in a cage with tigers and touch them and get pictures with them! What an amazing experience! We have just caught up with some well needed sleep and soon will be heading to see the New Town and tonight to the night markets. Will post next when I arrive in Laos, bye!
