Got a bus to Trujillo where we got a taxi to Huanchaco, which got lost. Got there and had a really nice cheap meal of pasta and garlic bread. The next day we saw our first ruins - Chan Chan, the biggest pre hispanic mud city in the world. I have to say that I was not overly impressed - it was quite interesting and worth seeing, but once you had seen a bit of it youd seen it all. We then went on to the pyramids of the moon and sun. only the moon had been excavated, but it was absolutely amazing - really well preserved so you could see all of the colours on all the walls and things - very impressive. We then went back to Huanchaco and after a lunch of passionfruit icecream wandered round the town for a bit - cooler than Mancora, but still really nice to just sit and watch the surfers. There are also a lot of traditional fishing boats there, which was really interesting. We went out for a nice meal in Trujillo for someones birthday before getting the night bus. A really nice, old fashioned town and I wish I could have spent more time there.
