I like the age 23 it feels ripe! In fairness we did tease Matt about being 23 when we were in second year but I guess he will forgive us. We had such a fantastic day on the Well Inclined yesterday, I can see how some people cant handle the heat with orders flying left, right and centre (port, starboard and mast?) but to me it all seemed pretty reasonable. The best should was just after a fantastic tack around a buoy when William called "beer time" and we sail on towards tiger island. We came in second place by about a minute and a half with a 3 man novice crew!
We enjoyed a refreshing cider in the club house before driving through the luscious hills (thanks to the British weather) to pick up Auntie Marie (Gargs) to head home for well earned dinner. Salmon was on the menu and I actually enjoyed it which was a turn up for the books. Not a surprise since Wendy is a fantastic chef. It was so good to get to know the Listers better and reminisce on Granny and the others. It was completely worth coming to Australia just for this weekend alone! Such marvellous hosts and wonderful company. Not to mention the mouth watering berry brownies Caitlin (crew #3) whipped up last night!
Today I spend another wonderful day with Amy from uni who has moved out to Sydney for a year to work, and more importantly, Yorkshire. Our bellies are stuffed as her friends Pam and Richard treated us to tapas in darling harbour. Me and Amy had worked up our appetite wandering the opera house (1056000 Swedish tiles on the roof) and manly via the ferry and some great views that I missed during my walk around the botanical gardens this morning.
Memorable moments of the day
- Amy's sun screening comments and positions on the ferry due to short shorts.
- A stupid looking guy on a remote control skateboard with flat tyres.
- Well appreciated eye candy.
- Buying a boys t shirt to wear out to dinner which fit in my budget. (And surprisingly on my body!)
- Machia-ice cream.
- The unexpected 8th and 9th dishes.
- Sending off Amy off on her Aussie career. Good luck!
