So Tuesday we did the tourist thing and drove down to Beverley Hills and Hollywood, as much as we were following our sat navvy, we saw the Hollywood sign and just drove straight for it, ended up at the bottom of the hills, parked up and started trekking up to get the perfect picture, we realised about 20 mins in, after stones were trapped in our sandals and our one water bottle was emptying rapidly, that we slightly underestimated the hike, we decided to turn back and drive a little further away to get to get a piccy. We drove a while (I was napping in the back so no clue how long haha) trying to find The Grove, which is a little outside shopping peninsular and farmers market. We thought we was close enough and started to walk for 15 mins or so then asked a helpful man for directions and he pointed out whilst chuckling to himself that we was about a 80 minute walk from The Grove so back to the car we went!! Finally got there and had a lovely salad which had this thing called Tempeh in it (?) it was some soya bean concoction, Liv liked it but I wasn't convinced - still a falafel girl at heart :) The waiter told us to go to the parking lot down the road and go to the top floor for the best views in LA, and he was right, we had a little photo shoot up there despite the 'no photography or loitering' signs that were posted around. We had a wonder around the designer shops and stalls, bought our first holiday bracelets, had a donut and people watched (my favourite thing as some of you know).
Not forgetting it was election night, it was nice to watch it all unravel with Gemma's (pro Obama) housemates as it meant so much to them because of their school fees increase and especially because they were all women. The right guy won so we went out to Huntington Beach to celebrate although the town was dead, maybe stuff was closed due to the election but the first bar we didn't get into because they didn't accept Livy's ID, slightly ridiculous as he let the rest of us in on the same thing. Douches. Went across the road to a questionable bar, I ended up getting invited to a place called the Rainbow Bar by a rather older gentleman, he was something to do with filming and by the look of him I wouldn't want to be in any of his 'films'. I respectfully declined the invite.
Wednesday; we had a hazzy morning due to the night before so things went a bit slow. We decided to hit the Malibu scene, I drove - YES I DROVE, ON AMERICAN ROADS, WOW, GO MEE!!, bear in mind I nearly took the back off a mustang on the freeway but that's fineee. We found their little shopping area and had a mooch, grabbed some lunch and headed down to Paradise Cove beach. I frolicked in the sea for a while but it wasn't warm enough really, I was quickly moved on by a photographers entourage because there was a True Religion shoot going on just near where we was sitting on the beach, apparently I was in their shot :( playtime was over. We decided to try our luck and didn't want to pay for the car park so Kate and I complained to the parking attendant about the shoot and managed to blag a free pass out of the car park, considering they wanted us to pay $30 for a days parking, that was a good bit of work.
