This is going to be a short blog as Vientiane was pretty rubbish to be honest, and we only spent two nights there. We ended up staying in a complete hole of a guesthouse. Our room smelt funny. Cheap though! We got out our sleeping bags to sleep on. The town itself was small, and there was not much to do. It was hard to belive it was a capital city.
On the plus side we did go to an excellent Indian restuarant twice while we were there. Reminded us of home. We also went to a cool bar on both nights, and met a lot of people we knew from the slow boat into Laos. We keep seeing the same people wherever we go now. All the bars shut at 11pm and there was nothing else to do after that so we had early nights.
On one day we went to the waterpark. It was the smallest waterpark ever. There were about 9 slides but only one was working. Only one pool out of three was full. It was good though to have a dip to cool off and chill out by the pool. We tried the slide too, it was pretty rickety but fun. We met this group of Irish travellors we knew at the park. Apart from Alan and I, and about 7 of them, there was no one else there. We had a nice day relaxing by the pool.
On the last day we booked ourselves a bed on the night bus down to Southern Laos. We then had the whole day to kill until the bus left at seven. We had a wander round the city, and went to the internet place. We also found a book exchange place and picked up a few to keep us going. We were looking forward to moving on to Southern Laos and 4000 Islands.
