From Kuala Lumpur we decided to move up to Krabi on the east coast of south Thailand. After a tram, train, bus and plane we arrived! We took a bus to the hostel and got dropped off the nearest yet to the place we wanted! So after a couple of minutes walk we made it. This place seems nice and we have had some nice room mates. We took a local bus to the nearest beach Ao Nong. The word 'bus' is a bit of an overstatement based on the way we know buses but it seems to be the Thai way! They fitted 12 of us in one way with another stood on a step at the back, but I'm pretty sure they should only really sit 5 or 6! Plus, there are loads of motorbikes on the road - we saw a woman with a new born baby strapped to her on one, then a family of 5 riding along on another. But not long after this we passed a motorbike accident site where one person was being treated to and another had obviously been killed and barely covered over with a sheet. A disturbing sight and although accidents happen everywhere, it may show all the health and safety back home is a good thing! Plus it was a little unnerving as we bombed along in our open-sided biscuit tin of a bus!
But, don't fret, we made it safe and sound and spent an afternoon on the beach! The weather has been quite cloudy with little bits of sun so the sea was a nice temperature for a splash. Friday was the first day since we got here that there hasn't been a big thunderstorm!
Krabi has been alright, the main centre up the road is busy and touristy with lots of bars but overall not the hub of a activity we expected. I think we may be here a bit out of season.
We are moving on to Koh Phi Phi tomorrow. Here we are hoping for clear white sands and that the sun will make more of an appearance. We're planning to stay for 3 nights which is the longest we've stayed anywhere yet so should be good not having to repack the bag for a little while longer :)
