Having spoken to everyone last night we had another cluster of people all heading to the Brazilian side of the falls this time. We had been told the views are completely different but we are slightly dubious. We are also accompanied by Arthur, who works at the hostel who said he will help show us the way.
It is Brazils Independence Day so the buses ran a little late, but we were able to get there and pay our fee the enter the park. When we caught our first glimpse it is obvious why you have to do both sides of the falls. The difference is outstanding, with the Argentinian side showing the power of the falls, the Brazilian side puts into perspective how big they truly are. Everywhere you look there is a waterfall from devils throat to hundreds of metres down the river.
Beautiful doesn't begin to cover the sights again. Some of the views we have seen have been truly breath taking and wish we could show everyone but can't be captured on camera.
We walked up the river with the views building up better and better. Finally at the end there were two viewpoints offering amazing views. The dial rat you walk out into the middle of devils throat but at the bottom. Looking up shows the size of the falls and mist and spray soaked us. It also gave you a clear view of the birds swirling around the falls with thousands of them looping round and round. We were also lucky enough to see a rainbow going all the way around the lookout which was an added bonus.
The second viewpoint was up a lift showing the waterfalls from the top like at devils throat which was again magical. It looked mystic with all the spray but the velocity of the water would carry you miles uncontrollably downstream.
Afterwards, us two and Mark elected to skip birworld so we could get ready for our bus. With bags packed and sausage sandwiches made, we were told they hadn't booked our bus which was not a good way to end a great day.
With great deliberations we choose to stay for the free night and go out and get drunk getting the bus today. Saying bye to Mark and arranging to meet him in Rio, us two, Jasmine and the German couple went out to a local bar.
The beers came in long funnels so shared on of them between the table and after polishing it off, had it quickly topped up again. It was good fun and helped us forget we were supposed to be in Rio tomorrow.
