After a two hour bus ride from Puerto Natales we arrived at Torres del Paine (meaning the towers of blue). Many websites state this as being "probably the world's most spectacular national park" This mountain range has also recently been added as the 8th wonder of the world. Even having just arrived here, I could see why. So off we went on our merry way to the first camp about 4km away from the starting point, Refugio Chileano. I was close to tiers after climbing the hill and facing the gusty winds in an attempt to catch up with my crazy amigas who where quite a way ahead. It was worth the "walk" though, as the camp was at the foot of the torres with a river running through it, we were rewarded with amazing views. Fortunately we pre-empted that we would not feel like setting up a tents and opted for the pre set up tent option at the Refugios. This was a highlight for me...the tent was already set up on raised wooden platforms for added "comfort" and could just roll out the base mattress and sleeping bag had in my backpack and tried to catch up on some lost sleep.
