We said bye to Dave and took a 4 hr bus to the Brazilian boarder town Corumbá. The boarder was said by all guide books to be closed at 1pm on a Sunday. We arrived at 1:45pm and according to the bus terminal staff the boarder was going to close at 2pm. We jumped in the taxi with an Austrailian couple we met in Bonito and prompted the taxi driver with Rápido Rápido (go-go). We made it to the boarder just passed 2pm to discover that they were still open and weren't planning to close any time soon. We walked across the boarder to the Bolivian side, Quillado. After getting our stamps we took a taxi to the train station, which again was supposed to only have 1 train a day on a Sunday. We ran up the stairs and managed to just make the 3pm train - literally ran from the taxi with our luggage to catch the train just as it arrived at the platform and hurried on board before it took off (buying tickets on board). The train was really comfortable, had movies showing and had a diner. We met really interesting locals, saw the sun set and sun rise and even had a good few hours sleep in between. We arrived at Santa Cruz at 8am. Left our luggage at the hostel of the Australian couple. Went for breakfast at a cafe in a local supermarket. We spent the day in the Santa Cruz city, mainly the square, cathedral and the view point, which was the extent of what was on offer to see in the city.
