The final leg of our journey back to Cali started bright and early on Monday morning. We bid the Simcocks adieu and pulled out of Longmont headed Southwest. We took Jeff's advice and stopped on our way out of Colorado to take a quick jaunt up to the gorgeous Hanging Lake, before crossing into Utah and the red desert. We got to Arches in time to take a quick hike up to watch the sunset on the backside of Double Arch. Gorgeous! In addition, to the Arches the park has awesome red rock pillars, walls, balanced rocks and other crazy geological features... all of which blaze bright orange in the hot setting Utah sun. After camping by the Colorado river outside of the park, we got up early to catch a desert sunrise and then took the hike up to Delicate Arch, probably the most famous arch in the park and the one in this photo of Gina. Short and sweet was the visit, but well worth the stop to check another NP off the list. Now on to Zion...
