About an hour or 2 out from punta del diablo I turned around in my seat and introduced myself to a young Canadian couple; Adam and Avery.
Super nice guys that were at the back end of their travels and were looking forward to spending their remaining weeks in the chilled little beach oasis that is punta del diablo.
Within the first hour of arriving at the hostel I was absolutely in love with this place! Really has to be seen to be believed - so beautifully raw! Small enough to walk around in abit over an hour the dirt roads cladded with the sickest beach houses screamed a very relaxing vibe.
The lads and I were frothing when we seen some small clean lines rolling through late in the afternoon. Couple beers at a beach shack bar on the beach then met Adam and Avery back at the hostel. Boys hit the hay early but me and had a sample of the local harvest and found our selves up until around 3am swapping stories and getting real deep.. Good times!
Bounced out of bed a quite a reasonable hour not want to waste a second of what this magic hide away had to offer... I spent the day with the canadians laying by the beach body surfing and reading. Smashed out about half my book... Me and Adam even went for a run up the Sandhills to blow some cobwebs out, felt absolutely revitalized ... Nice dinner at a little Mexican whole in the wall and I was ready to call it a night.
Extended our stay by I think another 2nights... Could of easily added 2months! Found it real interesting talking to hostel staff about how they actually found out about the joint... Guys that had been living their kicking it for about 5months - that's the life!!
Next day; more beach, more swim, more reading, more siestas , more chillen... Could really see myself staying put here: nice people never too over crowded and amazing weather combined with a gorgeous peace of coast line- what more can you really ask for??
Last night we headed down to the same bar as the first night with a small crew to watch the movie 'Argo' on a projector screen under the stars...
Wasn't super enthused about our prospected 30hr travel bender the next day could of easily stayed put. But the passport was begging for more stamps; thus meaning a close to the Brief Uruguay chapter.
