Hello!! (by adam)
It was time to leave thailand, and start Malaysia!! Its always exciting going into a new country we both get a new lease of energy. We arrived in Langkawi late in the afternoon and we headed straight for the cheap accommodation they tend to be in small clusters next to each other!
However they were all full and it was starting to get dark, and to make it worse the heavens opened!! We met a couple from belfast and Me and this other lad went guesthouse hunting while the girls stayed put! the bad decision i made in phi phi was playing in the back of my mind, eager not to make the same mistake again i had to choose a decent room! There was nothing, we had one more place to try and my friend took the room and i was hmmming and arring, sitting on the fence haha didnt want to make the decision! But time was running out, it was a right dump and it wasnt even cheap, 11 pound a night for what looked like a tin shed!! Anyway i manned up and bit the bullet because its was our only choice! However louise didnt seem to mind it! Bonus!
That night we ate at this lovely restaurant called tomato, it was an indian restaurant and we discovered these things called 'Roti' i would describe it as a half pancake, half nan bread, it comes with loads of dips, It was immense! they only cost 15p! You can probably get them back home just we've never getting round to try them.
The next morning we were going to check out and move to better accommodation but they were either worse or just full so we decided to stay put! That day we hired out another moped! We donned our helmets with the map in our hands and just hit the road!
Langkawi didnt seem like an island it was quite big and moped was the best way to explore! We could of quite easily just sat on the beach and sun bathed but to be honest we were both sick of beaches haha never thought we would say that. Our first port of call was the harbour and then onto the cable cars which we heard were excellent. We were half way there until we realised we forgot the camera. blast!!
2nd attempt.......1hr later........ we headed opposite direction to a water fall which was good!! then we went to an isolated beach at the north of the island which was stunning and empty! All the way along the road trip you could just see monkeys swinging through the trees and i swear we saw a Komodo dragon or just a really big lizzard! first one sounds better!
It was getting late so we decided to head back just when the heavens opened. This rain cloud must of followed us all the way back to our tin shed, (guest house) the rain plus the wind made it really cold and we were in shorts and vest and just as we got back all we wanted was hot shower........haha good one! IF ONLY WE HAD ONE............ cold shower it was!!
To make things worse, the next morning we got up donned our helmets and headed for the bike parked out front. Not only does this woman rent out tin sheds for ridiculous amounts haha she is also a crazy cat lady who must of had about 15 cats and guess what........ one was perched right on top of our leather bike seat, so this little cute cat is just lyng there in the sun and we try to get it off.... shoooo shooo and his back just arched and his 6 inch claws came out and started clawing at the seat!! ahhhh we were going to have to pay for the damages!! You couldnt make this stuff up! haha
Next day we headed for the cable cars but on route we past the air port strip and the planes came directly over head it was class i felt like tom cruise in top gun as he rides along the strip shouting yeah!! woooo!! as the planes come in or took off haha only difference was he was riding a harley and mine was a crappy moped and he was watching harrier jets ours were just little gliders haha and the odd passanger plane!
Cable cars were excellent, they took you right to the top of the mountain where this weird bridge connected these two mountains and the views were unbelievable. Unfortunately louise was a bit nervous which was made worse by this american family who shared our cable car! You couldnt plan this stuff, the worst possible child entered our cab, louise was on edge and this kid starts screaming OH MY GOD WERE GOING TO DIE, WERE GOING TO DIE haha louise must of been seconds away from nutting him haha
Anyway we left that same day, later on after dropping the bike off. Langkawi was nice it just wasnt working for us so we headed for penang!!
love adam and louise xx

dad (M) Confession time-we've only just seen this blog today (18 dec) so no wonder you were surprised we hadn't put on any comments. cant believe you left the camera first time round and i'm not surprised Louise wanted to nut the little horror! Glad you manned up to make the decision to hire the room - dad has the same difficulty when buying christmas trees. be extra careful when riding mopeds in the wet especially when only wearing shorts and t-shirts! love mam and dad xxx
