What can we say!! EXCELLENT!!! Before we start we would both like to say a massive thanks to frank for everything!! We had an absolutely great time!
Once we got there frank met us at the train station and took us back to his apartment and we freshened up and headed straight out there was so much to see!The plan was to head to the top of marina bay sands for twilight. Marina bay sands is the relatively new hotel which looks like a boat on stilts and has an infinity pool that runs the length of the boat. If there was one thing i wanted to do while I was here was to visit this building! And it didn't disappoint, even in the hotel where expensive places transport guests in little golf carts, this place uses miniature Rolls Royce phantoms haha
The views from the top were excellent, there was even Jacuzzi's situated at most look out points and you could see 360 degree views all across Singapore. It was nice having an insider show us around it meant we could relax and not worry about 'are we going the right way' or 'have we seen everything' lol all we had to do was take in the sights and chill out! After marina bay sands we headed for a pub i think it was harry's maybe? Lol frank has this special card that allows us to get $5 san Miguel which is super cheap because without one would cost you $15!! On the way to the pub we saw these massive giant white balls that are floating in the harbour ready for New Years Eve celebrations and someone asked us to write a wish on them. So we all set away with our markers writing a wish on them so if your back home and watching on TV look for the white ball with the hand on it, it's got Monkhouse and Feenan written on them haha
After our beer we headed to franks local or 2nd home whatever you want to call it lol and you don't get many locals better than this it was a pub that just sat on the edge of the river lined with restaurants and bars and everything is lit up with fairy lights, it had $5 san Miguel and we met franks friends here and had a couple of beers with them.
That night we were pretty tired from travelling and were ready for bed, best nights sleep we've had! The next morning however i think was Louise's favourite part of travelling, full stop! haha We were treated with bacon, sausages, toast, tomatoes and EGGY BREAD!! Louise couldn't wipe the smile off her face! J We stocked up on breakfast and headed out for the day because on the night we were meeting up with John Grainger the long lost cousin lol Thats what i like to call him but it will be really good because louise had never met him before! Our first full day we all headed out to explore Singapore, Frank took us to see the gothic building which looked like batmans pad and it looks like no other building in Singapore. We ventured inside and the best part was it had a floor to ceiling wine rack encased in glass and when you want a bottle of wine a floating angel 'the waitress' dons her wings and floats up the wine rack to collect the bottle all done by the magic of the zip wire. Next to this building were 2 identical buildings which created an optical illusion as you can see in our pictures. It looks as thin as a sheet of paper from one angle.
We went to a Chinese temple and yet again Louise was dressed inappropriately and had to don some local attire and she looked like a hobo as you can see in the pictures again haha Next we ventured to China town and seen the meat market and local line dancing which they seem pretty keen on. We then headed back to freshen up before our meal with John - Steph and Franks cousin.Frank had booked us a meal at Jumbo's - local seafood restaurant by the river at Clark Quays. We didn't have a clue what to order and left it to the experts. We had escallops with sweet potato, crispy squid, spicy seaweed, breaded tiger prawns and black peppered crab (our first experience). It was absolutely delicious! we carried the night on in another bar with more $5 san miguels lol John is such a character and he had an early flight to get the next morning but he was still going strong with his doubles. He had us laughing all night and our favourite quote was when asking him why his company had given him a million dollar style sequin jacket, his reply was 'cause i made some million dollar deals and s***...wateva' haha class It was great meeting him and he was saying you should come over Steph!
The following morning we had a lazy start to the day in Franks apartment, I was on poached egg duty and we had another good breakfast. That afternoon we headed to play some virtual golf. Totally out the blue we got there and all of Franks golfing friends were there just about to start a game. So we joined in. This virtual golf isn't the same as back home. Its so sophisticated the ground moves up and down depending on the lie of the ball. We had a good afternoon and was made slightly better when I won haha We then headed to Orchard Road to see the Christmas decorations and it made fenwicks window look like Primark! Oh yeah i nearly forgot we stopped over at Orchard towers nicknamed the four floors of w****s haha due to all the bars inside filled with ladyboys. We heard all about it and wanted to check it out. Franks arm was easily twisted haha I couldn't believe that these were boys! The more you look at them the harder it is to believe.
The following day we didn't really do much apart from sort out our accommodation for Melbourne. However i did spend about 2 hours writing a message in one of them gadgets with all the pins you know the type the one where you put your face in and it makes a sculpture of your face....well i saw frank had one and i spent two hours writing "thanks Frank" in it and i finally got it done and carefully placed it on the shelf. That evening we headed to the night safari and thats what we put your money towards aunty val. It was excellent!! My favourite was the giant flying red squirrels. When we came back louise was writing a thank you note and she went to stand it up against the gadget with the pins and her stupid fat shrek fingers knocked it over i couldn't believe it !!!!!!!!!!!!!! frank hadn't even seen it. It was meant to be a suprise when we left the next morning haha so we went to bed in the fit of giggles its was either that or cry!! Haha
So the next morning we got up early and frank seen us off in the taxi to the airport.
We had the best time in Singapore thanks to frank and Australia has a real hard job to top it!
Love adam and louise xx

mam and dad (m) No wonder you queried our lack of blog entries -we hadnt even seen this one (along with the Langcowie one)-it seems we are not the technical wizards we thought we were when it comes to operating the computer. anyway sounds like you've had a fabulous time in Singapore and uncle Frank has been tremendous to you both. Wish i had an uncle Frank somewhere! - Singapore sounds great and you've probabley only had a whirlwind tour of it .The virtual golf sounds fun but you know Adam you should really let your hosts win...Not sure about the lady boy place..dad would probably give that one a miss but the peppered crab meal looked delicious...beats the crab sticks we buy from Asda each week at the Galleries!!!! Love to you both xxx
