From Latacunga we travelled to Cuenca which is a beautiful colonial city in the south of Ecuador. We arrived late afternoon and had to walk for a long time with our rucksacks on our back so that we could find a place to stay. We eventually found a beautiful old colonial house which had been converted into a hostal. When we went out for dinner in the evening we were lucky enough to see a procession for Corpus Christi (What is this festival for?)
The procession was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. There were hundreds of people holding candles and throwing flowers walking through the streets following bands. The bands would play for a while and then stop and the people would continue the song singing. The city was also full of sweet stalls for the festival, of course I had to buy some!
Well today is Saturday and we got up at 5 am to travel to Peru unfortunately things are not going to plan and we have spent so far 4 hours on a bus and 3 hours waiting for another one. We then have to cross the border and then get another bus for 4 hours (what a long day!) (What is a border in a country?)
What is the capital of Peru called? What is so special about the capital city?
