Hello,
Finally I have a chance to use the internet and let you know where I am and what I have been up to. I am currently on a large island in the Galapagos in Ecuador (Which continent am I in? You all should know the answer to this!)
I have just returned from a 8 day cruise around the Galapagos islands on a boat called the Angelito 1. The boat was wonderful and my room was not too small. The food was very tasty though the fish, which I do not eat still had its head and teeth when it was served! During my time on the cruise I visited lots of wonderful islands and saw lots of fantastic animals. I will be able to up load the photographs for you all to see when I get back to the mainland as the internet is too slow here and I am finding it difficult to type as some of the letters are missing from the keyboard. When I went snorkelling which was pretty much every day I snorkelled with sharks (Hammerhead and White Tip), penguins and also sealions. I was able to swim with penguins from the shore, they were a little cheeky and tried to pull at my swimming shorts. The sealions want to play and often swim around you. You have to be careful though because if you get too close to the baby sealions their mummy gets a little cross and starts shouting at you! (What do you call a baby sealion?, What is the difference between a sealion and a seal?)
In the Galapagos there are lots of unusual birds that are found only here and no where else in the world. There are some birds called the Blue Footed Booby and the Red Footed Booby. Can you tell me What colour is the beak of the Red Footed Booby?
You will be able to find your answers by looking on the internet in school. Ask an adult to put the internet on for you and find a secure page for you to look at!
You can send your answers to me through the email address Miss Moorse has set up for you or by posting your answers on the wall of this site.
I will write again soon when I am in Quito. Take care and work hard.
