143/1000 internet minutes left. I was able to get a few more blogs off today so I'm catching up now. After a late breakfast, it's about 11am and we check out the Lido poolside. There's a rumor that the ship's Signature Shops are having a sale. No way! Save 50-75%? Let's go! I think we're getting towards the end and they need to dump inventory, however, this ship is going to Peru and back (30 days), the through Panama Canal (16 days) before starting a World Voyage (over 100 days) so there will be more opportunities for them, not us.
I take a few shots of Karen checking out the wares and notice another area set up with food and "Chinese" cooks and attendants. It's a Mongolian Stir Fry. The guests pick out the ingredients on one side of the aisle, then cross to the other side where it is cooked while they watch. While we would love to participate, we just had breakfast so we settle for a few photos.
Downstairs Karen picks up her photos and grabs another baggage ticket. We were missing one. We wander around some with Mom saying goodbye to friends she's met on the trip. No one bothers to say goodbye to me. We have get get ready for dinner early tonight. First, there's a "Farewell Reception & Cruise Memories" event in the Queen's Lounge at 4:15pm. Free champagne and snacks accompany our tour director, Gene, and Kainoa as they look back over the past 50 days with the aid of pictures taken by the ship's photographers. They throw in some hilarious shots of the crew goofing off which gets the crowd going. It's a nice ending to our vacation. We sit with Ken and Sue from Vancouver, exchanging email addresses and a nice picture. All fro free! However, it's 6pm and time for the Pinnacle dinner.
Upon entering, our hostess greets us with, "I'm so glad to see you again this evening". It's like we come here every night. Tonight is on Holland America. Remember when we were having trouble with our toilet clogging? Well, they kept telling us not to put too much paper in and questioning if we were operating it correctly. When the ship's mechanic reported to our room, he said it needed a part and he would replace while we were at dinner. After that, no more problems and we got an apology card offering a free dinner for two at the Pinnacle. So we are here because of our toilet.
I order the filet again. I have had fish almost every night since boarding and, while it has all been excellent except for the rockfish, the beef is a welcome change. This time Mom orders sole, all with the same sides. We finish with a lemon brûlée. Another great meal. But 8pm brings us to the theater for the final performance of the ship's singers and dancers called "Rock at the Opera". These entertainers are much better than the usual cruise ship troupe. With the close of the show at 9pm, it's back to our cabin. Mom has a little more packing to do. Tomorrow is our last day at sea and I have to get our boarding passes printed just after noon.
