Karen is fine this morning. I hate to sound like a broken record but we're up late and off to breakfast. We try to leave in the morning for a few hours to give our cabin stewards, Luzon & Ono, a chance to tidy up the room for us. Neither of us are big breakfast eaters so we stop by the theater to catch the end of Kainoa's lecture on the Hula. The last 10 minutes are interesting, as are all of his presentations. He makes mention that he has Class A pearl jewelry and will make it available for inspection up in the Crow's Nest now. Mom likes him and joins others to peruse the gems for sale. It seems his brother (ya, I know) or some relative is a jeweler in Hawaii and puts these packages together. It's actually very nice, good prices and Mom can use her ship card. She finds two items for purchase. I've purchased 4 T-Shirts and 2 Hawaiian shirts so far totaling $130. I'm not a jewelry guy.
News of an event travels fast amongst our elderly crowd and we scurry to the Lido poolside to experience the "Ice Cream Social". Sure, they had ice cream but also a guy making an ice carving by the pool. He has 30 minutes to complete it. He works fast, starting from a block about a foot thick and 2'x4' in size. The end result was an eagle although many spectators kept shouting out, "Lion!" throughout the process.
OK. It's 2pm. Now what do we do? Mom goes back to the room to pack some more. After all, when you bring a ton of stuff, there's a lot of packing up to do. I send a few more blogs as the Internet is running fine. Then I load some pictures for two more days. I'm trying to catch up although I hate sending them out Uzi style. We have the Filipino Crew Show at 3pm that we attend. It's good but we feel the Indonesian Show on Wednesday was better, especially the costumes.
We have a Pinnacle Grill dinner scheduled later at 8 pm so we wander about the ship. I must confess, I buy a watch onboard. It's like a Rolex. It's an Invicta for $149. They say 75% off but who knows. What I do know is Mom keeps asking me the time and my old watch finally died. No, not the battery. The whole thing. The salesman tries to move me into something more expensive but I hold my ground. I'll have to wait until I get home to check on the price to see how I did but I have doubts.
Dinner is great. They charge $28pp for those wanting a more intimate experience but tonight our evening is courtesy of Costco, along with the Canaletto dinner the other night. The Pinnacle is noted for their filet mignon and I have the 7oz version although a 10oz is offered as well. Mom has the same. We split a baked potato, salad, brussel sprouts and, for desert, an unbaked version of Baked Alaska for Mom and raspberry cheesecake for me. The filet was the best. Not really. The price was the best. We have another reservation for tomorrow night at 6pm.
It's 10pm so we retire for the night, watching on TV the news about the terror stacks in Paris.

Boomer If this is an eagle, this ice carver might need to get his check.
