This week the weather has been amazing. On Sunday after work I met up with Jem who was having beers with a mate of his called Chris Buck who lives in Bondi. We had a few more beers on his balcony in the sun and then met up with his friends in a pub called The Golden Sheaf in Double Bay. We all got a bit drunk and ended up getting a delicious burger there and then walking home and having another pint at a great pub called the Lord Dudley, Jersey Road, Woollahra, which is about ten minutes from where we live. It's an 'Old English style Pub' with 17 beers on tap so we were spoilt for choice!
I had a lovely day off on Monday, bought some new, cheap clothes in this really good shop in the city called SES on George Street and had a look at the Town Hall, which is getting refurbished at the moment, St Andrew's Cathedral and the beautiful Queen Victoria Building. The QVB, on George Street, is an amazing shopping centre in a gorgeous old building with stunning architecture and a domed roof. It was built in 1898 as a monument to the reigning monarch. It's nice just to wander through and do some window shopping! After that I sat in Hyde Park and finished my book called Life of Pi by Yann Martel which is a great read!
The next day got the ferry to Taronga Zoo, which is situated right on the shores of Sydney Harbour and is known as 'the Zoo with a view'!! I saw the usual tigers, elephants, giraffes and then lots of ozzie animals including platypus, wombats, possums, kangaroos, dingoes and crocs! I also saw an amazing Flight Bird Show, saw the giraffes very long tongue as they were getting fed, had my lunch watching the chimps getting their lunch and then saw the very cute Koala's, actually moving from the trees, and having their feed of eucalypt leaves. I don't really like zoos but all the animals live in decent habitats and look like they are well cared for but the main reason I wanted to go was for the spectacular view of the harbour from the cable car that you get to the zoo entrance. That night Jem and I went to the flicks (cheap night on Tuesdays) at Bondi Junction to watch We Own the Night with Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg. The film was a bit predictable and a bit slow so I wouldn't really recommend it!
Bye Bye for now xxxxxx
