Well the last week has been hectic with work but we've both had lots of fun meeting new people and getting to grips with our new jobs. Housekeeping is hard work - who needs a personal trainer when you have to scrub 15 bathrooms and make loads of beds but it was nice to get my first pay the other day!! The juice bar is great fun and I have a view of bondi beach and all the fit surfers which is a bonus!! I'm also now, after a week and a half of working there, cashing up at night and locking the place up which is very funny!!! It's brilliant because I get to drink lots of nice smoothies and juices and eat nice salads and sandwiches and Jem's been having nice food for his lunch too so that's a big perk!!!

Jem and I haven't had a day off together yet so last week I spent my days off exploring Paddington and the nearby Surry Hills which has loads of good pubs and cheap restaurants. We went there last night for a cheap curry at a restaurnat called Maya Da Dhaba on Cleveland Street which was delicious and BYO so Jem got a lovely Reisling from the local wine shop. It was just good to get my bearings and I discovered lots of cafes in quiet little streets and too many tempting clothes shops. I have to keep reminding myself that we're here to save and not spend which is very hard!!!

At the weekend, in between jobs, I went to our local market in Paddington on Saturday which has lovely stalls but is a bit pricey and then on Sunday I went to Bondi Beach market which is more for the traveller and is also really good.

Jem and I have also discovered an amazing chocolate shop called Max Brenner and we had the best hot chocolate there the other day and we have a great local called The Royal which is very friendly and a scooner is only $4!!!!

Tonight we're planning to go to a free outdoor cinema in Sydney Olympic Park but this week the weather's not been that great so if it looks like rain we'll have to give it a miss. On Friday we're meeting up with our friends Guy, Helen and Graham for a few scooners in town but I have work on Saturday morning at 8.30am so it won't be a late one for me. I don't think I could physically do housekeeping with a hangover - it would kill me!!!

Jem's enjoying his job and his boss has now realised all the experience he's had so he's making the most of it.
