Road trip! Guess that how you could explain our last few days, having successfuly taken our white beast 1200KM to airlie beach from brisbane. En-route we made a few stops, going to our stomping ground Noosa, we were pleasantly pleased when we scored a very good last surf at Tea Tree on the points, and we even slept in our van outside our old house like some strange stalker! Next stop was Hervey Bay 3 hours north, here we opted for a spot of whale watching, a 5 hour trip on a rather large boat into the bay behind fraser island to see the migrating whales. We saw about 4 Pods of mother and babies and a male "tag-along"!! the mothers must have measured upto 30-40ft long and came within 6 ft of the boat which was awesome as you could see all the barnicles which have housed themselves on the poor whales! We saw the little ones leaping out of the water aswell, and of course them puffing all the air out of their lungs which was cool! It was a good morning topped off with the cheese and bicsuits which they passed around on the way back, which we later found the supply of and quickly demolished the lot like ragga-muffins! From Hervey bay we had one and a half days of solid rather uninteresting driving. The landscape was pretty bare and brown until we got to tropical queesland, where the frequent tropical rain was apparent by the greenry. En-route though it was pretty interesting, being able to travel so far without really seeing much including people, and you know taht those which we did see where clearly married to their sisters! We saw a mini tornado whisking up sand and dirt in a field which was almost as good as driving past the "House Yard", just like a car scrap yard, this had old wooden house on stilts which were for sale! You see people actually move houses in a literal sense here!
On arrival in Airlie beach we had a swim in the beach side pool (we were very excited about getting in the sea to cool off, only to discover that you are not allowed to due to the deadly box jelly fish being everywhere!). Today the Royals (mr and mrs H) arrive, which we are most excited about, especailly as they dont know it yet but they will take us out for a nice meal as our diet of plum jam sandwiches is wearing thin!! And tomorrow we all board our ship Iilleola for 3 days of sailing around the picturesque Whitsundsays island which will be awesome!!
Think thats about it, we're off to cool off in the pool again! Hope everyones well at home.
